The Justice Forum has declared its support for Obafemi Hamzat ahead of the upcoming governorship primary of the All Progressives Congress in Lagos.

The group urged its members and supporters to vote for Hamzat as the party’s flagbearer for the 2027 gubernatorial election, positioning him as a potential successor to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

Prominent members of the Justice Forum include former governor Babatunde Fashola, ex-deputy governor Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, and Chairman of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC), Tajudeen Olusi.

The Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Finance, James Faleke, confirmed the group’s position, stating that the endorsement is aimed at ensuring Hamzat emerges as the next governor of the state.

Faleke disclosed this shortly after a meeting between members of the GAC and President Bola Tinubu in Ikoyi, where discussions reportedly focused on the party’s 2027 governorship candidate.

The meeting marked the second consultation between party leaders and the president within a month.

In a statement shared on his official social media handle, Faleke called on supporters across Ikeja Federal Constituency and Lagos State to back Hamzat’s candidacy.

Meanwhile, Hamzat will face competition from businessman and philanthropist Samuel Ajose, also known as SMA Gold, who has gained endorsements from various political, business, and religious groups.

The primary election is scheduled to be held between April 23 and May 30, 2026, as announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission, in line with provisions of the Electoral Act 2026.
