The Department of State Services has released former chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Abdulrasheed Bawa.
According to reports, Bawa was released by the secret police late Wednesday night.
This was confirmed by the DSS Director, Public Relations and Strategic Communications, Peyer Afunanya.
Recalling, that Bawa was sacked and arrested in June 2023 over financial misappropriation while in office and was probed by the new EFCC Chief, Ola Olukoyede, in 2019, over alleged sales of seized assets worth over N4.8 billion.
Even at that, Bawa refused to employ any legal services despite his detention and spent 134 days in custody before his release on Wednesday.
