President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has today been June 7, 2023 swore in the new Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Sen. George Akume to succeed Boss Mustapha.
Also, the former Minister took the oath of allegiance and oath of office at about 11:06 am in the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa.
This event took place today Wednesday 7th June, 2023 at the Aso Rock Villa, Abuja.
Recalling that Akume’s appointment followed the declaration made earlier by the President during a meeting with the Progressives Governor’s Forum at the Villa, last week.
It may interest you to note that, the position of SGF is a senior government official who plays an oversight role in the executive arms of government. He also coordinates and supervises the activities of the various government ministry, departments, and agencies while providing advice and guidance to the President and the Cabinet on policy matters and follows the implementation of government policies.
George Akume as SGF will also be incharge of organising and coordinating meetings of the Federal Executive Council, the highest decision-making body of the government.
To this end, Akume (SGF) will serve as a point of contact between the federal and the state government, facilitating communication and coordination between the different tiers of government.
Present to witness the great event were some serving and former Governors, Vice President Kashim Shettima and Senate President Ahmed Lawan.
Others are Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq; Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Dr FolasadeYemi-Esan, and wife of the new SGF, Mrs Regina Akume.
