The Chairman Board of Trustees of Zaria Education Development Association (ZEDA) and Executive Secretary of the NUC, Professor Idris Abdulkadir has been confirmed dead.
According to the family, Prof. Abdulkadir died in the early hours of Monday at the age of 79 years.
In a statement, Mohammed Bello Habib, ZEDA spokesperson confirmed his death, and survived by wife and ten children.
Also Late Professor Abdulkadir was the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Zaria Education Development Association (ZEDA), a Non-Governmental Organization, until his death.
He was a Veterinary Medicine Professor at ABU Zaria who rose through the ranks to become Dean of the University’s Faculty of Veterinary Medicine.
He was appointed Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission (NUC) and relocated from Lagos to Abuja, where he was successful in constructing the magnificent edifice on Aguiyi Ironsi Way, Maitama, Abuja, which is now the Commission’s Headquarters.
The ‘Prof Idris Abdulkadir Auditorium’ at the Commission was named after him.
At the long run, he was also the first Chairman of the Governing Board of the now-defunct Zaria Pharmaceutical Company (ZPC) Ltd, Zaria, which manufactured the ‘ZARINJECT disposable syringes and needles.
