The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has the former governor of Ekiti State Kayode Fayemi on hot seat for misappropriation of 4bn at its zonal command office in Kwara State.
It was gathered that, Fayemi arrived the EFCC facility at about 9:40 am on Thursday to be interrogated over alleged misappropriation of N4 billion, PUNCH reports.
Fayemi, a member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), was governor of the state from 2018 to 2022. He handed over to Biodun Oyebanji after the latter won the governorship election in June 2022.
Fayemi had reportedly written to the EFFC seeking to delay his invitation over the alleged misappropriation of funds.
He was said to have requested a postponement due to his participation in the launch of two books in honour of former President Muhammadu Buhari.
The former governor was quoted as saying that as one of the organisers of the launch, he was bound to be present at the event.
Also Another former governor, Bello Matawalle of Zamfara State, did not escape as EFCC also grill under investigation for allegedly diverting N70 billion meant for contracts in Zamfara.
