Her Excellency, Rev. Eyoanwan Otu, Wife Of Governor of Cross River State, received a delegation from the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) Enugu Field office on an advocacy visit to her office recently.
The team, which was led by Her Excellency, Mrs Juliet Chiluwe, the Chief of UNICEF Enugu Field Office, harped on the need to prioritize healthcare in Cross River State. They also solicited to partner Her Excellency in championing major health interventions in the state.
UNICEF also committed to providing technical support and bringing together all the stakeholders in the health sector to strategize for an improved service delivery in the health sector.
In the same vein, the team highlighted possible ways for the State Government to meet the organization’s counterpart fund principle, which is one of the major prerequisites for partnership.
Rev. Eyoanwan Otu, in her response, expressed gratitude to the team and commended them for their unrelenting efforts and support to the State. “We appreciate the good works UNICEF has done and is doing in saving the lives of our people,” she said. “I reassure you of my commitment and that of the Government in ensuring we achieve more positive results in the coming years.”
