The Youth Championships is one of the month-long Table Tennis fests holding in Lagos, where the youngsters are engaging in a healthy competition, showcasing their strength, skills, and rubbing shoulders with their counterparts on the continent.

Home-grown talents Tobi Adebakin, Adeoye Hussein, and Ojo Favour were part of the team representing Nigeria in the youth-based championships, which will run from 27th July – 3rd August, 2025.

It’s another exposure for the Nigerian youngsters at the ITTF Africa-sanctioned championships, with over 17 countries registered their presence in the 16 events, which cut across singles, doubles, mixed doubles and team categories.

Successful teams in the U-15 and U-19 categories will qualify for the World Youth Championships in Romania, while the finalists in the singles events will also earn their tickets to the global stage.

Lagos is not only hosting the world, but also encouraging mass participation in all forms of sports and empowering the youth to thrive, with the opportunity for the players and the up-and-coming stars to continue honing their skills in the ping pong game.
