Barely 11 days after the successful conduct of bye-elections in 16 Constituencies across 12 States, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) today commenced the re-training of its Electoral Officers, Heads of Department and Assistant Electoral Officers in Anambra State, as part of preparations for the State’s governorship election, scheduled for 8th November 2025.

Speaking on the objectives of the Election Monitoring and Support Centre (EMSC) workshop, the Chief Technical Adviser (CTA) to INEC Chairman, Prof Bolade Eyinla described the EMSC as a planning, monitoring, implementation and Electoral Early Warning System, deployed by the Commission to plan, implement and monitor electoral activities in real time through a coordinated and proactive approach.

He said that since its activation for the successful conduct of the Ekiti State off-cycle Governorship Election in July 2018, the EMSC had become a critical instrument in the management of all elections, including the 2019 and 2023 General Elections and all off-cycle governorship and bye elections.

National Commissioner, Prof. Rhoda Gumus, told the participants to absorb key aspects of the training to ensure the delivery of a free, fair, credible and inclusive governorship election in November.

The Anambra State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in the State, Mrs Queen Elizabeth Agu, commended the participants for giving a good account of themselves during the last bye-elections held in the State 11 days ago, urging them to re-double their efforts for the upcoming election which is less that three months away.
