The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that its Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise in the Federal Capital Territory will now hold across all 62 electoral wards to improve accessibility for residents.
The exercise will run from September 29 to October 8, 2025, at 69 designated centers, including INEC offices in the six area councils and the state office in Garki. Registration will take place daily, including weekends, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

INEC also confirmed that its online pre-registration portal was suspended at 11:59 p.m. on Monday, September 15, 2025.
Speaking at a sensitization meeting with leaders of persons with disabilities (PWDs) in Abuja, INEC FCT Administrative Secretary, Bimbo Oladunjoye, who represented the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Aminu Idris, said the decentralization was part of the commission’s commitment to inclusivity.
She urged residents who pre-registered online to complete their biometric capture at designated centers to validate their registration, stressing that without this step, their registration remains incomplete and invalid.
Joseph Kaura Wakili, Chairman of the Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities (JONAPWD), FCT Chapter, welcomed the initiative but called for greater accessibility at registration centers. He urged INEC to provide ramps, Braille materials, and sign language interpreters to ensure the full participation of persons with disabilities.
“Without a voter card, we cannot vote. Without our votes, our issues may be ignored,” Wakili said, encouraging PWDs to take advantage of the opportunity to register.
