INEC Flags Off Road Show to Sensitize Citizens on 2025 Continuous Voter Registration

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) this morning embarked on a road show to create awareness on the commencement of the 2025 Nationwide Continuous Voter Registration (CVR).

 

The sensitization exercise kicked off from the Commission’s headquarters in Abuja, where a briefing was delivered by the Hon. National Commissioner, Barr. May Agbamuche Mbu, who represented the Hon. Chairman of INEC, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu.

In her address, Barr. Agbamuche Mbu delivered a powerful speech on the importance of the exercise, urging new registrants to seize the opportunity wisely. She emphasized that voter registration is the foundation of credible elections and encouraged Nigerians who have attained voting age, those who wish to transfer their registration, or those in need of replacement for lost or damaged Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), to take advantage of the window provided.

 

Other dignitaries in attendance included National Commissioner Professor Kunle Ajayi, mni; Director, Voter Education and Publicity (VEP), Mrs. Victoria Eta-Messi; Deputy Director, Information and Publicity, Mr. Wilfred Ifogal; Deputy Director, Voter Education, Mrs. Paula Iwenjiora; and Deputy Director, Gender and Inclusivity Department (GLD), Mrs. Perpetual Aligwara and other staff of the Department of Voter Education and Publicity.

 

According to the Commission, online pre-registration began on Monday, 18th August 2025, via the portal cvr.inecnigeria.org, while in-person registration is scheduled to commence on Monday, 25th August 2025 at all INEC State and Local Government Area offices nationwide.

 

INEC reiterated that the CVR exercise is strictly for new voters who have turned 18, as well as for citizens who wish to transfer their registration, collect their PVCs, or replace lost and damaged cards, stressing that multiple registration will not be allowed.

 

The Commission assured Nigerians that it remains committed to deepening democracy through inclusive, transparent, and credible electoral processes.
