Following the gubernatorial election polls results, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Caleb Mutfwang, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, as the winner of the Governor-Elect in Plateau State.
This was announced by the Returning Officer of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the state, Prof.Idris Amali after the election that was held on 18th March, 2023.
It was gathered from the report that Mutfwang remains the winner after scoring 525,299 votes defeatimg his closest rival, Nantawe Yilwatda of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who scored 481,370 votes, and Patrick Dakum of the Labour Party (LP), who received 60,310 votes.
However, the PDP candidate received 43,929 more votes than the APC candidate chosen by the incumbent, Simon Lalong.
The PDP received the most votes in ten local government areas: Barkin Ladi, Bassa, Lantang North, Langtang South, Riyom, Mikang, Mangu, Jos East, Qua’an Pan, and Pokkos, while the APC received the most votes in seven: Jos East, Kanke, Kanam, Pankshin, Shendam, Wase, and Jos North.
