…Tasks Govt to look beyond oil, Tap Tourism Potentials in N-Delta
The Chairman of OML42 Youth Forum, Comrade Bakawei Mamamu, has unveiled a hospitality and entertainment outfit in Effurun, Delta State just as he called on the Federal Government and the respective State Governments in the South-South to “look beyond oil explorations but tap the tourism potentialities as an alternative means of improving the economy of the Niger Delta region”.
Speaking during the unveiling of the outfit tagged JOHNBA GAMING LOUNGE at No. 100 Effurun – Sapele Road, Comrade Mamamu, a business and development-oriented youth leader with a promising vision that inspires others, hinted that “the South-South is predominantly blessed with natural resources and assorted tourism infrastructures capable of boosting the economy of the region and the country at large, if well tapped and properly funded”.
According to him, “This will go a long way in creating job opportunities for the teeming unemployed youths in the region”.
He specifically appealed to the various governments and spirited individuals in the Niger Delta region to do everything possible to revive the moribund Bomadi Beach, Port Harcourt Park, River Ethiope Beach
River Motel Abraka, and such other tourist attractions, noting that “such a venture could be gainfully actualized through public private partnership thus fast-tracking the processes for effective tourism development of the region”.
Comrade Mamamu however identified some factors inhibiting tourism development in the Niger Delta region notably security challenges, sea robbery, underdevelopment of the region as well as negligence on the part of both the Federal and State Governments, and a penchant for social stratification, among others.
He urged the authorities to formulate favorable policies to checkmate the status quo.
The newly unveiled JOHNBA GAMING LOUNGE which is located in Effurun, at the top of FedEx office, close to opposite Multiline transport, was formally declared open on Sunday, May 26, 2024,
By the chairman of the occasion, Prince Preye Okrikpa, represented by Comrade Clement Numa of Odidi community; In his address to the gathering, the chairman of Odidi community appealed to Deltans in Warri and environs to patronize JOHNBA for bar services, console gaming, PlayStation 5, virtual reality, boarding games, snooker as well as haircuts.
Mamamu further told the forum that the outlet will be opening its doors to clients and customers for 24 hours.
“JOHNBAR has a relaxation bar capacity of over 150 people standing or sitting, high-quality lights & sound systems, international entertainers, the country’s finest DJs, and a top-notch security system all in place.
“The interiors also show nicely spaced tables to guarantee customers’ comfort, and emergency exits that meet Fire Safety regulations and industry standards”, he explained.
