IAUE Mgt Set To Become First University To Introduce German, Chinese Languages Courses…see details
The Management of Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, IAUE, says the Institution will soon introduce German and Chinese Languages courses in the shortest possible time.
This IAUE Mgt confirms will make the Institution the first University to have German language study in the Country’s South South Region as it kicks off.
This hint is coming on the heels of an approval by the National Universities Commission, NUC, for 6 more programmes for the University after the initial approval for 21 programmes.
This development was disclosed to journalists by the institution’s Deputy Registrar and Public Relations Officer, Dr. Ngozi Okiridu, on August 8.
She said “the approval by NUC will bring the total number of accredited programmes to 58, the 6 new programmes are Banking and Finance BSC, Agriculture BSC, Educational Technology BED, Employment and Human Resources Management BSC, Entrepreneurship BSC, and Social Work BSC”.
She disclosed further that admission is currently ongoing into these programmes for the 2023/ 2024 academic session.
Dr. Okiridu also hinted that the University is engaging with the Industrial Partnership for Robotics, Artificial intelligence (AI), Data Analysis and software engineering.
“Ignatius Ajuru University of Education will continue to develop programmes for industrial collaborations to produce graduates who will be fit for industrial productivity and social problem solving”.
On the proposed foreign languages, she said: “The benefit of studying these languages are enormous, first it will expose participants to more opportunities that others are dreaming to have.
“Secondly, participants will become valuable assets wherever they are, once they are fluent in multiple languages. Several and better opportunities and job security are also possible with the study of languages. In addition, travelling to these countries and getting visas will be easy for participants”.
Recall that the University had been in the news in the past couple of days, over allegations about some staff members engaging in job racketeering and school fees scam. Reacting to this, she said: “The University did not at any time ask anyone to pay money for employments neither are we aware of it.
“These are just internal and external gang up by some determined individuals to smear the image of the University and its leadership through cheap and malicious publicity.
” The job was advertised, proper interview conducted and recommendations made, before they were employed. Anyone who paid money should go directly to the source and demand for their money instead of whipping up cheap sentiments to blackmail and tarnish the image of the University”.
“Meanwhile, the University management has set up a committee to investigate any form of extortion. The committee members are: Dr. Martin Adekanmbi – Chairman , Dr. Lawrence Amadi – Member, Dr. Austin Okwelle – Member and Dr. Chinenye Ajie – Secretary.
“Those that claim that they paid money to any staff of Ignatius Ajuru University of Education should report to the Committee with evidence of payment for proper investigation.
” Secondly, the University has a dedicated postgraduate account where the school fees are paid, so if anyone resorted to paying to some staff at the accounting department of Post graduate school instead of the right channels, that person should blame himself or herself.
” Meanwhile, the management discovered the issue of fake receipts by some staff of the accounting department of the Postgraduate school.
“Senate set up a panel to investigate issues raised and after deliberation those involved were sacked. The matter is also with the police”, she concluded.
