Oluwatobi Ajayi, founder and CEO of Nordmotion, a Nigerian vehicle manufacturing company, has accused a major Nigerian bank of refusing to finance the purchase of two Nordmotion Max pickups for a client, citing a policy against “Made‑in‑Nigeria” vehicles.

According to Ajayi, the client, a business owner in the oil and gas sector, had been impressed with the vehicles after test drives and intended to buy them. However, the bank reportedly suggested he opt for foreign brands instead, despite those brands also identifying as Nigerian-assembled in filings with the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP).

Ajayi described the incident as “another example of needless sabotage and institutional bias against Nigerian manufacturers and assemblers,” highlighting how such actions undermine local production, job creation, and economic growth.

He emphasised the importance of supporting Made‑in‑Nigeria products, noting that local manufacturers strive to deliver world-class vehicles for both profit and patriotism.

“This is yet another example of the needless sabotage and institutional bias against Nigerian manufacturers and assemblers that we experience in this sector,” Ajayi wrote. “Every time we deny support for local production, we export jobs, skills, and economic growth that should belong here.”
