0 120

The House of Representatives has rejected the ad-hoc Committee established by its Minority Caucus to investigate claims of alterations in certain sections of the recently enacted tax laws.

House Spokesman Akin Rotimi in a statement emphasized that the authority to constitute an ad-hoc committee for parliamentary oversight rests solely with the Speaker and the House in plenary.

The House therefore insists that any probe undertaken by the Minority Caucus lacks institutional backing and runs contrary to formal parliamentary processes of the House contained in its Standing Orders.

The House assures that a bipartisan ad-hoc committee constituted before recess to investigate alleged tweaking of the tax laws would do a thorough probe and submit its report in plenary.
