The federal high court lagos division has ordered the final forfeiture of digital assets totalying more than two hundred and twenty two thousand dollars recovered from Chinese involved in cyber-terrorism and internet fraud to the federal government.
The presiding judge, justice Alexander Owoeye gave the order in a ruling on the matter.
The assets form parts of the recoveries made from members of the 792 syndicate alleged crypto currency investment and romance fraud suspects arrested in december, 2024 in Lagos during an operation by operatives of the EFCC.
The judge gave the order, following an ex parte motion filed by the economic and financial crimes commission through its counsel, Zeenat Atiku.
In his ruling, justice Alexander Owoeye says I have read the motion and attachments and found sufficient merit in the application.
Consequently, the motion succeeds and the final forfeiture is hereby granted.
