Thirteen worshippers lost their lives in a reprisal attack by bandits in Unguwan Mantau community, Malumfashi Local Government Area of Katsina.
The incident occurred during morning prayer when suspected bandits launched a reprisal attack, shooting sporadically in the Mosque.

A Statement by Katsina State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Dr Nasir Mu’azu states that the attack was in retaliation to the community’s successful defense efforts two days earlier where scores of bandits were ambushed and killed and rescued victims of abduction in Ruwan Sanyi village, seized three motorcycles, as well as two AK 47.
Following the tragic incident, the State Government says it has reinforced security in the community.
This is in addition to joint deployment of air component commander of the Forward Operating Base, Nigerian Army, and Nigerian Police Force to contain further attack in the community
