Hon Vincent Reuben Obu has complied with the order given by the Executive Governor of Rivers State Sir Siminalayi Fubara to all council chairmen in Rivers State to hand over to the Head of local government administration following the Supreme Court ruling.
Hon Vincent Reuben Obu disclosed this during the official handover of all council property to the Head of Local Government Administration in Abolga.
He said, it was imperative to obey the instructions of the Rivers state Governor and that was why he came to the council with his entourage comprising the Vice, the secretary, Chief of Staff, and other officers to hand over to the Head of local government administration.
He thanked Governor Siminalayi Fubara for keeping the peace in the state amid temptation and trial and also commended the Executive Governor for the protection of lives and property since his assumption of office, and encouraged him to focus on the people who voted him to power.
Hon Vincent also appealed to the Abolga HLGA to sustain the existing peace in the Abua/Odual local government area.
He listed some of the projects that have been completed and other ongoing projects, adding that, his administration, before and during the Christmas and New Year celebrations organized a Free transport scheme for the people of the Abua/Odual local government area, the payment of school fees to 1573 Abolga students, as well as the building of 266 lock-up shops and open stores in Abua central.
Hon Vincent also said, his administration has constructed town halls and provided 15 Solar energy borehole water projects to communities in Abua/Odual as dividends of democracy to the people at the grassroots.
Hon Vincent equally said, that his administration has commenced construction of a road project awarded by the council to improve the well-being of the people of Abua/Odual local government area.
He reminded the people of Abolga that a new local government council election would be conducted urged all intending persons to participate, and thanked the people of Abua/Odual for voting him to power.
The outgoing council boss encouraged them to view this as an opportunity for learning, asserting that recent analysis indicates that 80% of the people of Abua/Odual are praying for their success and that these prayers will undoubtedly be answered.
He extended heartfelt appreciation to his immediate family, the family of the late Chief Reuben Obu, acknowledging their unyielding understanding and cooperation while he was in office.
On her part, the Head of Local Government Administration, Dr Boma Allison thanked Hon Vincent Reuben Obu and the decision of the Rivers State Governor Sir Siminalayi Fubara for the opportunity to serve.
She commended the leadership of Hon Vincent Reuben Obu and she pledged to build upon the strong foundation laid by Hon. Vincent and assured the people of Abua/Odual that she would not disappoint them in her new role. And assured that her office Will Make sure all ongoing projects are completed to improve the well-being of the people of the Abua/Odual local government area.
