I, Chief Chinedu Ogah, OON Member representing Ikwo/ Ezza-South federal Constituency on behalf of my family and constituents healthily felicitate with Ikwo Noyo Sons and daughters as we celebrate this year’s New Yam Festival(Nnefioha).
We encourage all of us to continue to uphold the culture and tradition of Ikwo Noyo. The Nnefioha celebration calls for unity, love, and togetherness which bind us together as a people.
We celebrate bountiful harvests as the agricultural hub of Ebonyi and Nigeria in general. It is our duty and responsibility to ensure this celebration doesn’t die with us.
“As a people, we must guide our culture zealously and promote the values we cherish using same as a method to bring Unity and peace among us”.
“Culture is a symbol of the identity of the people. When culture and tradition are lost, we have lost our origin, and the norms of the land go into extinction, as a result, we are incapable of tiring ourselves to the apron strings of Western lifestyle, hence, such would amount to neo-colonialism.
“We must all put all hands on deck to protect the different forms of cultural expression including languages, crafts, arts and others ”
As we celebrate this annual festival, I wish to call on us to use it to poster unity among the Ikwo people as such would bring us progress, development, and unity.
Once again, Happy New Yam Festival my people!
Signed:
Chief Chinedu Ogah OON,
Member representing Ikwo/ Ezza-South Federal Constituency in the National Assembly of Ebonyi State.
