…Fear of Gbagi Is the beginning of wisdom
Ahead of the forthcoming Gubernatorial election polls slated for 18th March, 2023, the Arise Television has decided to stage an all round debate to give candidates equal opportunity to sell themselves, their manifestos and programmes to Deltans.
It is not encouraging that the major contenders are expected to leverage on this platform to further stamp their campaign manifestos publicly to the entire media world and Deltans to see and choose where the votes should actually swing to.
But undoubtedly Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, the candidate of the ruling party Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chickened out of the debate for fear of the unknown though sent a letter for his absenteeism while Sen. Obarisi Ovie Omo-Agege who is the current Deputy Senate President and the candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC) also backed out as his already prepared script which is to play on Sheriff Oborevwori has been destabilised though he also gave his reason.
In attendance were His Excellency in waiting, Olorogun Barr. Kenneth Gbagi OON (SDP), and others Great Ogboru (APGA), Ken Pela (LP), Comr. Sunny Otefe (YPP), obviously these candidates actually showed they have sincerity of purpose and respect for the people of Delta state thereby attending the Arise debate to actually back up their campaign promises.
However, the political giant, Olorogun Barr. Kenneth Gbagi OON, the Governorship candidate of Social Democratic Party (SDP) whom fear has melted away PDP and APC candidates majestically attended the debate alongside other party candidates as one who has no albatross hanging on his neck and the only industralist who is considered to be more competent and qualified among others for the governorship position and that should naturally be an added advantage to earn him more vote in the forthcoming election.
However, if any of the candidate knows and understand that the people is key in this quest and what the position they are vying for entails, they would’ ve given priority to the Arise Debate to earn accolades from the people of Delta state whom they have been campaigning to with lots of promises on the street.
But today remains remarkable in the history of Delta State gubernatorial elections as the peoples opinion should matter in all intentions of anyone or candidate vying for any position of power in the state for better.
Therefore, It is pertinent that this debate should at least earn any candidate that attended some accolades with more votes on the 18th March, 2023 election.
Let all Deltans vote wisely for a competent candidate as Peter Obi advises, do not vote Party!
