Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, on Wednesday, commissioned 420 newly completed housing units in Badagry Division and named the estate after the late Akinsanya Sunny Ajose.

The estate, now known as Akinsanya Sunny Ajose Housing Estate, Ajara, Badagry, stands as a tribute to the late statesman, a distinguished son of Badagry Division, former Head of Service of Lagos State, former Special Adviser in the Governor’s Office, a stalwart of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and member of the Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC). He passed on just days before his 79th birthday on February 4, 2025.
Speaking at the commissioning, Governor Sanwo-Olu reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to providing affordable and sustainable housing for Lagosians. He noted that the project is part of the state’s ongoing efforts to deliver over 2,000 additional housing units within the Badagry Division.
According to the Governor, the Akinsanya Sunny Ajose Housing Estate, Ajara, aligns with his administration’s T.H.E.M.E.S Plus Agenda, which focuses on building a 21st-century economy through inclusive infrastructure and housing development. He added that the project also generated over 1,200 direct and indirect jobs, contributing significantly to economic growth within the axis.
During the event, Governor Sanwo-Olu also performed the ground-breaking ceremony for the Akinsanya Sunny Ajose Housing Estate Phase II, an eight-storey high-rise project expected to commence next year.
The Governor explained that the Akinsanya Sunny Ajose Housing Estate (Phase I) is the 24th housing estate delivered by his administration, featuring modern infrastructure such as; well-laid and tarred network of roads, a central water treatment plant, sewage treatment system, drainage network, perimeter fencing with gatehouse, an injection station and electricity transformers.
Governor Sanwo-Olu reaffirmed that his administration remains steadfast in bridging the housing deficit and providing decent, affordable homes that promote inclusive growth and urban renewal across the State.
