Governor Fintiri Closes Internally Displaced Persons Camp; Sets Up 21-Member Relief, Post Recovery Committee

FOLLOWING RECEDING OF WATER FROM THE 13 AFFECTED COMMUNITIES, VICTIMS NOW RETURNED TO THEIR HOUSES AND NEAR BY SETTLEMENTS. THE ADAMAWA STATE GOVERNMENT HAS CLOSED DOWN THE INTERNALLY DISPLACED PERSONS CAMP IN YOLA SOUTH LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA.
THE FLOOD WHICH CLAIMED 26 LIVES HAS DEVASTATED THE COMMUNITIES.

Meanwhile Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has constituted a 21- member relief and post recovery committee, chaired by deputy Governor professor Kaletapwa Farauta in response to the recent flooding in Yola south LGA of the state
A statement from the chief press secretary to the governor, Humwashi wonosikou said the governor urged the Committee members to identify measures to bring succour to the affected Communities and develop strategy for post recovery as government is committed to providing relief and support to affected communities, working towards solutions to mitigate future disaster and will do everything for safety and well-being of its citizens
The governor advised the Committee to ensure transparency, fairness and diligence in its assignments, with the ultimate goal to bringing relief and Hope to affected communities.
