Lagos State has continued to witness a remarkable surge in transformative governance, infrastructural expansion, human capital investment, and innovation-led growth. The dynamic leadership of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu in the State has redefined the standards of urban development and inclusive governance in Nigeria.

 

The Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) Monthly Development Summary for July, highlights some major achievements by the state government in alignment with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and the progressive ideals of the APC manifesto.

According to the publication, Governor Sanwo-Olu’s administration sustained its culture of participatory and transparent governance. This was evident in the launch of the 2025-2027 Civic Engagement Blueprint and the swearing-in of 57 new LG and LCDA Chairmen with a call for grassroots-focused leadership.

 

The Governor also led an impactful intergovernmental collaboration, including hosting the U.S. Consul General and the Georgia House of Assembly to strengthen international development partnerships. Reforms in the asset disposal framework and civil service capacity-building further solidified Lagos’ position as a model for responsive governance, efficiency, and ethical public administration.

 

On infrastructural development in July, Lagos commissions a flurry of infrastructure across the State, including the inauguration of roads in Alimosho, Agege, Bariga, and Mushin, alongside fire stations, ICT hubs, and markets by  Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu. A N500 billion “Produce for Lagos” MOU was also signed with four states to enhance logistics and food supply infrastructure.

 

Strategic drainage upgrades in Parkview and Banana Island reinforced climate resilience, while enforcement actions against illegal developments demonstrated a firm resolve to protect urban infrastructure.

 

The PGF Journal stated that Education and Human Capital Development was not left out as the administration inducted 1,500 new post-primary school teachers and inaugurated five new technical colleges, reflecting a bold investment in future-ready education.

 

LASUBEB commissioned inclusive libraries, while Education District II launched an Innovation Committee to modernise service delivery. The 10 million award to LASU’s best student and expanded Model Colleges entrance programmes reaffirmed Lagos’ merit-based educational policy. Additionally, multiple outreach programmes and STEM accolades underscored the Governor’s commitment to nurturing globally competitive youth.

 

Regarding Economy and Industrial Development, Governor Sanwo-Olu’s government showcased a 40 billion Deal Book during the Lagos Investment Summit and launched partnerships with Adidas and Siemens to boost sports, clean energy, and industrial development. The successful ‘Invest Lagos 2.0’ and support for local leather and creative industries further highlighted Lagos as an economic powerhouse. The introduction of the Land Use Charge reform and promotion of property titling reinforced the state’s fiscal strength and investor confidence.

 

The Lagos State Government, on Health and Human Services, set a new benchmark in healthcare equity by tripling the ILERA EKO Health Fund to N3 Billion. Major milestones included the commissioning of LASAMBUS ambulance points, health outreach programmes in mosques, blood donation drives, and child lead poisoning surveys.

Health tech innovations such as QR code accreditation, biometric tracking, and AI integration across PHCs marked Lagos as a leader in digital healthcare. Additionally, over 13,500 sickle cell patients were enrolled on the ILERA EΚΟ scheme through public-private partnerships.
