Yesterday, over 500 million Naira gratuity cheques was presented by Gov. Biodun Oyebanji to some 2013/2014 State pensioners, while those in Local Government will receive theirs next week.
At the event held at Lady Jibowu Hall, Ado-Ekiti, the Governor also instructed that 200 million naira should be allocated to both State and LG pensioners on a monthly basis, without any formal ceremony until the committee set up to address gratuity issues comes up with a final solution to settle all outstanding gratuities.
The occasion is in fulfilment of the promises made last year by His Excellency, Biodun Oyebanji to the pensioners to constantly defray backlogs of gratuities when funds areĀ available.
So far, Ekiti State Government has paid pensions totaling over 600 million Naira on a monthly basis to about 9,700 pensioners, and over one billion, Seven Hundred Million (1,700,000,000.00 ) as outstanding gratuities.
