The executive Governor of Abia state, Dr. Alex Otti has celebrated today an Emeritus Professor, Mike Ogbanna who is Celebrated his 97th birthday on October 1, 2023.
In his heartfelt statement he expressed, “Today, I celebrate Professor Mike Ogbonna on the occasion of his 97th birthday. An emeritus professor, a distinguished scholar, leader, and patriot. He has made remarkable contributions to the academia, public service, and nation-building through his illustrious career. He retired from the University of Nigeria in 1992 and served as a member of the Imo State University governing council and subsequently as Pro Chancellor and Chairman of the governing council of Abia State University when it was ceded to Abia State. He was also instrumental in the creation of Abia state along with Dr. Michael Okpara and was a director of the Imo River Basin Development Authority. He has been a visiting professor at several universities in Nigeria, the United States, and Poland.
“I thank God for his life and legacy, and I pray for his continued well-being and happiness in old age. He is not only a role model and a mentor to many but also a senior friend and a father to me. He is a true legend and a national treasure.”
