The Federal Road Safety Corps has described as misleading and mischievous, a report concerning the judgement by a Court of Appeal in the case between one Mr. Shebb Emmanuel Ugochukwu (a motorist) vs FRSC and two others, stemming from an incident that occurred in 2022.

It was said that The Abia State High Court had awarded the sum of ₦30,000,000 (Thirty Million Naira) against the FRSC but the Corps appealed the judgement, particularly contesting the excessive nature of the damages among others.

The Court of Appeal however reduced the award to ₦10,000,000 (Ten Million Naira) and strongly criticized the plaintiff’s demands, describing them as a desire for gold digging.

Mr Ugochukwu had alleged that FRSC officers had demanded a bribe from him and upon his refusal, they booked him for traffic violations involving worn-out tyres and the absence of a spare Tyre, an allegation the Corps had denied.
