Gorbachev was in power between 1985 and 1991 and was the last surviving Cold War leader.

For his political contributions, he received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1990 as a symbol of the end of an era that began with the end of World War II, although his legacy continues to be uncomfortable for nationalist Russians, who consider him a traitor, so his image is not recognized as that of other leaders associated with times of greatness in Russia.

Gorbachev will be buried in the Novodevichy Cemetery in Moscow, where the remains of prominent figures in the history of this country are buried, as well as his wife, Raisa.
