The United States has waived the visa deposit requirement for FIFA World Cup ticket holders from Algeria, Cape Verde, Ivory Coast, Senegal, and Tunisia.
The exemption only applies to fans who purchased tickets and registered through FIFA’s visa facilitation system by April 15.
Despite the measure, supporters from Ivory Coast and Senegal could still face restrictions linked to the U.S. travel ban and missed visa application deadlines.
African fans also continue to deal with challenges including slow visa processing, expensive travel costs, and high ticket prices, with some resale tickets reportedly exceeding $30,000.
