Federal Government of Nigeria has indeed pleased with the impact of sight savers in Nigeria.
The Minister for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr. Betta Edu has called for more support in the humanitarian space during the sight savers @70, to ensure the ministry save more sight of affected communities and prevent more people from falling below poverty line.
In a statement she made remarks, “Since 1953, in collaboration with national and state governments and partners, Sightsavers in Nigeria has supported and campaigned for the rights of the Disabled, delivering over 60,000 cataract surgeries, and 590 million treatments to eliminate five neglected tropical diseases.
“As we are committed to reach the most marginalised communities and the disabled community in Nigeria; I look forward to many more years of collaboration and life-changing work with the organization and Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation.”
