The Federal Government, through the Minister of Livestock Development, Idi Muktar Maiha, announced the accelerated rollout of the National Ranching Programme in Kwara State following recent deadly attacks. The initiative emphasises ranching, livestock enumeration, digital tagging, and structured settlements to promote sedentarisation, enhance traceability, improve disease control, strengthen law enforcement intelligence, and address long-term rural insecurity.
Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, welcomed the federal intervention, pledging collaboration to integrate local governments, ensure ownership, and support swift implementation. The FG noted that structured ranching will stabilise rural communities, boost food security, improve livestock productivity, strengthen market integration, and create broader economic opportunities.
