FG Signs Concession Deal to Deploy Biometric Passenger Verification System across Airports….details 

The Federal Government has signed a concession agreement to deploy a contactless biometric passenger verification system, known as VPASS, across Nigeria’s domestic airports.

The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, said the move is aimed at strengthening aviation security, improving data integrity, and boosting revenue generation.

He noted that the agreement followed due approvals from the Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission, the Attorney General of the Federation, and the Federal Executive Council.

Keyamo explained that the VPASS system will address discrepancies in passenger data caused by inconsistent airline records and curb cases of unauthorized boarding.

He added that the initiative will ensure proper identification of domestic air travelers and close existing gaps in the verification process.

The deployment is expected to enhance operational transparency and reinforce security protocols across the country’s airports.
