Beginning with the 2025/26 academic session, the Federal Ministry of Education will introduce a new curriculum that reduces the number of subjects taught in primary, junior secondary, senior secondary and technical schools.

The reform is designed to ease academic overload and encourage more meaningful learning.
The ministry while announcing the development in a post on its X handle, wrote: “Beginning in the 2025/26 academic year, Nigerian schools will teach fewer, more focused subjects across primary, junior secondary, senior secondary, and technical pathways to cut overload and deepen learning.”
