The Federal Government has dismissed claims that Nigeria is on the verge of collapse, stating that the country remains stable and on a path to recovery.
The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, made this known at the 81st General Assembly and 23rd Annual General Meeting of the Broadcasting Organisations of Nigeria in Abuja.

Idris said Nigeria continues to show resilience despite security and economic challenges, citing recent gains by security forces in states such as Zamfara and Niger, where bandit activities have been disrupted. He added that improved intelligence and coordinated operations are strengthening efforts to protect lives and property.
On the economy, the minister pointed to improving foreign reserves and rising investor confidence, noting that reforms across oil and non-oil sectors are expanding revenue and stabilising public finances.

He also referenced Nigeria’s return to Frontier Market status by FTSE Russell as a sign of renewed global confidence, highlighting improved foreign exchange liquidity and market transparency.
Addressing the media, Idris urged responsible reporting, particularly ahead of the next election cycle, and called for collaboration to counter misinformation and promote national unity.
He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to a free and responsible media environment.
