The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (@FAAN_Official) has dismissed viral claims describing SMS notifications on the upcoming “Operation Go Cashless” programme as fraudulent. The Authority said the messages, issued ahead of the March 1, 2026 rollout, were officially disseminated with MTN Nigeria as part of nationwide public sensitisation.
FAAN clarified that Operation Go Cashless will introduce a fully contactless payment system across airport payment points nationwide. The agency urged the public to disregard misleading counter-messages and rely solely on verified updates issued through FAAN’s official communication platforms.
