More than 429,000 Ekiti State residents have benefited from Ekiti State Government’s free medical services under the “Ulerawa Health Insurance Programme and Basic Health Care Provision Fund.”

Speaking on the initiative’s success, Dr Oyebanji Filani highlighted the extensive range of services offered, including malaria treatment, immunisation, maternal and child health, family planning, nutrition, HIV treatment, and tuberculosis care across 177 health centres.

The program’s impact is set to deepen, with over 700 residents scheduled for free surgeries, including appendectomies, cataract surgeries, and fibroid removals in the next three months. This initiative underscores our commitment to enhancing healthcare access for underserved and financially disadvantaged residents.

Dr Filani also noted that the state has taken proactive measures to improve healthcare delivery, such as organising training for health staff, renovating health facilities, and aligning doctors’ pay with federal standards to boost motivation.

Additionally, he commended President Bola Tinubu for approving the new Federal Medical Centre in Ikole-Ekiti, which is expected to enhance the state’s health status and stimulate the local economy.

Our efforts to provide a safe and secure environment for our people by desilting drainages and dredging waterways to mitigate the risk of devastating floods are starting to pay off.

The people of Balemo/Onala and Ifesowapo communities, once affected by these floods, are now breathing a sigh of relief. We will not stop here! We will continue to explore avenues to minimise future risks while supporting those already impacted by similar environmental issues.
