The Edo State governor, Godwin Obaseki, has lamented ahead on the difficulty that might affect the salary payment to workers starting from June, 2023 for both the federal and state governments if embarked on removal of subsidy.
This he disclosed in Benin during the May Day celebration and advised workers to get ready for the challenges that would come after the removal of fuel subsidy.
According to him, such decisions will surely promote more hardship and pain to us as a people, especially workers.
He concluded “We must make sure that the burden and pain of these measures, which must be taken, are not borne by workers alone.
“Workers must now rise and ensure that they champion any discussions on subsidy removal.”
