Ebonyi State Commissioner for Youth Development and Sports, Richard Idike, has organized a welcome back reception for the reigning world Kickboxing champion, Nigeria Police Force Corporal Juliet Chukwu,in his office, Block 9, Centenary City, Abakaliki.

Corporal Chukwu who emerged the winner of the world Kickboxing champion held in Johannesburg South Africa presented her Extreme Fighting Championship Belt, symbolising her global triumph, to the Commissioner.

 

Idike expressed immense pride in Juliet’s accomplishments, describing her as a thorough reflection of the abundant talent in Ebonyi State noting that the state government has what it takes to excel in sports activities globally.

 

He emphasized that Juliet’s success underscores the immense potential of our athletes saying Ebonyi State is a breeding ground for world-class talent, as he assured to promote other athletes excelling nationally to higher platforms.

 

Early in her remarks Juliet, who is a serving police corporal with the Ebonyi state Command expressed immense gratitude to the Ebonyi state government as she attributes her success to rigorous training, unwavering focus, and the support of her coaches and colleagues.

 

She said her recent victory in Johannesburg, South Africa, where she clinched the Extreme Fighting Championship Bantamweight World Kickboxing title by defeating South Africa’s Dajne Van Wyk, has brought glory not only to Ebonyi State but to Nigeria at large.

 

She revealed that, her journey to global prominence began at the National Sports Festival in Edo State in 2020, where she won her first gold medal. “This victory became the stepping stone for me. This illustrious career. made me, conquered several major championships, including the African Knockout Championship 2 in Lagos, Zone MMN in Kampala, Uganda (2022), and Impact Championship 4 in Accra, Ghana (2024).

 

In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Youths development and sports, Obiesie Ogbonna commended Juliet’s journey to the top, highlighting her exceptional focus, determination, hard work, endurance, and discipline. Saying her success serves as an inspiration to youths in Ebonyi State, proving that dreams can be achieved with effort and dedication.
