DSVA ORGANISES 2ND QUEENS CLUB MENTORSHIP SESSIONS, ‘MEET AND GREET’ FOR STUDENTS WITH CEO OF IKEJA ELECTRIC, FOLAKE SOETAN
The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) has organised its second Queen’s Club Meet and Greet Mentorship programme for students.
The event which is an initiative established by the Agency to further ensure the sustainability and continuity of the Queens Club Initiative, has already increased from 300 to 1800 members across schools in the State.
Speaking at the occasion, the Executive Secretary of DSVA, Lola Vivour-Adeniyi said the Agency sought to partner with trailblazers in their respective sectors and prominent members of the society who are committed to child empowerment and community development to have students who are members of the Queen’s Club mentored and positively impacted.
The Chief Executive Officer of Ikeja Electric, Folake Soetan hosted members of the Queen’s Club of Ojodu Junior High School, Ojodu Junior Grammar School and Babs Fafunwa Millenium Senior Grammar School for a one-day interactive mentorship session which took place at the Conference Room of the Ikeja Electric Office at Alausa Ikeja.
Folake Soetan as the Mentor for the Day charged the girls to be the best by being committed and driven to achieve their goals. She stressed the need to possess a learning and open Spirit, believe in themselves, and imbibe and cultivate a turn-around personality.
She also spoke about the various issues women face in their careers and shared relevant tips on how to surmount these challenges.
Emphasising that the girls should press on towards their goal irrespective of challenges as these form the ladder in their quest for the golden fleece, Soetan lauded the State Government for its commitment to the Girl-Child and the DSVA for implementing programmes such as the mentorship to sustain the initiative for a greater future with more women impacting their world.
Though it was a meet and greet between the mentor and members of the Queen’s Club, also present were Matrons from the concerned Schools.
One of the Queens, Miss Idahosa Jennifer lauded the Lagos DSVA and the opportunity to meet and be inspired by different mentors, assuring that the take-home would be shared with their peers.
