Electricity consumers yet to pay their bills to the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company are to enjoy 30 per cent discount if they pay before December 31.

The bonanza, code-named ‘Arrears One-Time Settlement Scheme’ is to encourage the settlement of the bills and also a gesture to mark the Yuletide period, the EEDC’s spokesman, Emeka Ezeh, said on Friday in Enugu.

“The OTS Scheme is an initiative introduced by EEDC to assist customers to defray their accumulated bills. Commercial and residential customers, bulk communities, metered and unmetered customers are eligible for the discount scheme.

“Interested customers are to visit the ‘OTS Coordinator’ at the district office responsible for the area they are residing or call our Call Centre on 084700100 for further inquiries,” the News Agency of Nigeria quoted him as saying.

Ezeh warned, however, that those refusing to pay stood the risk of supply disconnection.

He said the company had started its network maintenance to deliver steady power supply before, during and after the Yuletide period.

Meanwhile, energy management and automation firm, Schneider Electric, has advocated the usage of its Augmented Reality technology to transform businesses and consumer marketplaces in Nigeria, to boost the nation’s economy.

Augmented reality is the real-time use of information in the form of audio, graphics and text integrated with real-world objects.

In a statement made available to our correspondent in Lafia on Friday, Territory Technology Lead of Schneider Electric, Belema Koleoso, said the firm’s AR technology EcoStruxure Augmented Operator Advisor would aid effectiveness, optimise human assets, and bridge the prevalent generational skill gaps if fully adopted by Nigerians.

She said, “Although much progress has been made since 2019 when Schneider Electric’s AR technology was launched, we want more people and companies to use it to their advantage.

“The software combines contextual and local dynamic information for mobile users, enabling them to experience a fusion of the physical, real-life environment with virtual objects.”
