…to Review Lagos State Special People’s Law, 2011
The Lagos State Office for Disability Affairs (LASODA) has again taken a step forward in its efforts to foster goodwill and mutual understanding by expanding its engagement with stakeholders within the disability community.
The General Manager of LASODA, Mrs. Adenike Oyetunde-Lawal, speaking during a meeting held on Monday via Zoom with Service Providers of various Homes caring for children and persons with disability, said it is important that all homes ensure unity of direction and purpose where everyone aligns with the objectives of the Agency as enshrined in the Lagos State Special People’s Law.
“We appreciate your support and cooperation toward our mission to promote the cause and protection of PWDs and call for inputs to the proposed review of the Lagos State Special People’s Law”, she stated.
Mrs. Oyetunde-Lawal said the Lagos State Office for Disability Affairs is embarking on the review of the Lagos State Special People’s Law, 2011 to bring the law in line with the current realities, saying “It is because of this, we call for your input to the review process, for identifying key areas/issues for consideration”.
She urged the stakeholders to forward their input to the Head of the Legal Services Department, Lagos State Office for Disability Affairs on or before the 31st day of January, 2024
The General Manager reiterated that LASODA will continue, through impactful empowerment initiatives, to provide assistive devices, educational support and psychosocial tools needed to integrate PWDs into society.
