Delta State Government Must Break Its Silence on the Otolokpo Domestic Violence Allegation

Delta State Government Must Break Its Silence on the Otolokpo Domestic Violence Allegation

The Young Nigerian Rights Organization, led by Comrade Victor Ojei, popularly known as Wong Box Nigeria, strongly condemns the continued silence of the Delta State Government over the alleged domestic violence incident involving the traditional ruler of Otolokpo in Ika North East Local Government Area, which reportedly occurred on 23rd February 2026.

Domestic violence is a serious violation of human rights and must never be ignored, especially when the allegations involve individuals in positions of authority. Unfortunately, weeks after the incident, the Delta State Government has remained silent, raising serious concerns about its commitment to JUSTICE and ACCOUNTABILITY.

This silence becomes even more troubling when compared to the swift action taken *in Cross River State, where the Police arrested Mr. Ovat Dickson, a suspended lawmaker representing Obubra 1 State Constituency, over allegations of domestic violence against his wife. The Cross River State House of Assembly also suspended him indefinitely while investigations continue._l

Such decisive action shows that no one should be above the law. Sadly, the response in Delta State Government has been the opposite, silence and inaction.

The Young Nigerian Rights Organization therefore calls on the Delta State Government to immediately:

1. Order the suspension of the Obi of Otolokpo while the Police continues with a proper investigation into the Otolokpo incident allegations.

2. Ensure law enforcement agencies handle the matter transparently.

3. Publicly address the issue and assure citizens that justice will prevail.

4. Justice must never be selective. Traditional authority, political power, or social status must not be used to SHIELD anyone from ACCOUNTABILITY.

The people of Delta State deserve a GOVERNMENT that stands firmly for justice, protects victims, and upholds the rule of law.

Justice delayed is justice denied.
