Delta NSCDC Holds Peace Summit, in Commemoration Of 2022 International World Peace Day

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps Delta State Command in line with the directive of the Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps Dr Abubakar Audi Ahmed PhD mni, joined the rest of the World to mark this year 2022 International World Peace Day, with the theme: Effective Leadership and Economic Empowerment* The Solution To End Racism, Electoral Violence, Farmers/Herders Conflict And Peace Building”

Declaring the one day summit open was the State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps Delta State Command Akinsanya Iskilu Abiodun who welcomed guest and participant to the one day peace summit being organized by the Delta State NSCDC in partnership with the Delta State Government and the Sceptre Leadership International.

 

The guest lecturer Dr Jeff Chisunum from the University of Delta Agbor Delta State in his lecture, said that the United Nations General Assembly in 1981 passed the international world peace day to be celebrated annually on the 21st day of September every year as a day of non-violence day, cessation of hostilities, strengthening the ideals of peace and to observe 24 hours of cease fire.

 

Other guest speakers who spoke on the need to end racism, greed, injustice, election violence, economic sabotage, bad leadership, rot and societal decadence which led to poverty, youth restiveness, thuggery and social unrest in the societies, were the Omu of Okpanam, HRM Obi Martha DUNKWU, Sir Eric Anigala representing Hon Ossai Nicholas Ossai the Chairman of the occasion, the President General of the Idumuje Unor Progressive Union Pastor Azu representing HRM Obi Charles Anyasi III the Obi of Idumuje Unor amongst other dignitaries.

 

Other speakers of the event are Dr Adekola Yinusa who is the Director Academic Planning and Chief Imam of the Federal College of Education(Technical) Asaba, Mr Tonnie Egun representing Chief Edwin Uzor the Special Adviser to the Governor on Peace Building, the State Coordinator NYSC, Youth Corps Members, the Resident Pastor of the Living Faith Church LFC Asaba aka Winners Chapel Pastor Chris Israel Nwaka represented by Pastor Isaac Juwah, Captain Nigeria Danielson representing Deacon Ken Pela among others.

 

The event was largely attended by people from all works of life including Sister Security Agencies, the Nigeria Police Force, the Correctional Service, the FRSC, NDLEA among others.

 

On the forthcoming general election, the state Resident Electoral Commissioner Rev Monday Udoh Tom, stated that there is no cause for alarm, panic or apprehension. Rev Udoh Tom assured Deltans the 2023 will be free, fair and credible he used the opportunity to call on Deltans to remember to collect their PVC to avoid rush on the long run.

 

Assistant Commandant Christopher Bosah the Head of the Agro-Rangers Unit of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps Delta State Command disclosed that the Agro-Rangers Unit was launched by the CG NSCDC to help tackle the issues between farmers Herders clash with the aim of resolving all disputes emanating from famers herders disparities.
