GKO Property Limited, owners of all major malls in Delta State and a conglomerate reputed as the single largest private sector employer of labour in the State, has commenced the construction of another new shopping complex with 3, 500 shops to bridge the unemployment gap that has bedeviled the State.
Owned by Olorogun Barr. Kenneth Gbagi FNIM, OON, the gubernatorial candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), in the March 18th 2023 election, who doubles as the Chairman of the conglomerate, the group says plans are already afoot to take more jobless Delta youths off the street into self sufficiency.
Gbagi, a real time billionaire in Nigeria and Delta-single largest private investor, with over 32 years investment in malls, was affirmed by the duo of the former governors of the State, Dr. Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan and Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, when they commissioned the Shopping Malls at Deco Road and PTI Junction separately.
They equally acknowledged that the former chairman of the Legal Aid Council of Nigeria, has so much love and believe in the State, a drive that has now made him to open up the State with investment with genuine wealth not stolen from the people neither ill-gotten political wealth.
They echoed that if the State has two likes of Gbagi, a former Minister of State for Education, an entrepreneurial cum security expert, the State will never be what it is, today.
The GKO Shopping Mall being built in Ugbolokposo, Uvwie local government area of the State, is due to be completed by the third quarter of 2024, precisely, September, which coincides with the birthday of GKO Group Chairman, Gbagi, said during a site tour on Wednesday night.
The Shopping Mall, is to gulp a whooping sum of N166.4 billion and would revamp the economy of the locality and the State in general when completed as work has started in ernest.
The conglomerate is set to arrest youth restiveness in the area as youths would earn their daily living from the 3, 500 shop-capacity with planes to build more in no distant time at the instance of the Chairman who is determined to bring succour to his people.
Deltans, politicians in particular should emulate this great and unbleached character, a philanthropist par excellent, a patriotic Nigerian from the Urhobo nation and an enigma who has successfully mixed business with politics, for Delta to be liberated from eternal suffering.
