Social justice advocate, Zik Gbemre has frowned at Governor Ifeanyi Okowa’s alleged propensity to betray close friends, political associates and even relatives in desperation to satisfy his selfish interests.
Zik was particularly incensed by Okowa’s alleged betrayer of Delta state 2023 governorship hopeful, Olorogun Kenneth Gbagi in the race for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship ticket which resulted in the withdrawal of Gbagi from the party’s primary to eventually secure the ticket of the Social Democratic Party (SDP).
He said, “Okowa’s high propensity to betray is evil and uncalled for, even to the extent of disregarding his late biological father’s counsel which makes matters worse and strange as well.
“If he can step on the toes of his political mentor, Chief James Ibori who brought him to the limelight in the political space, there is no person he can’t betray. Okowa doesn’t know shame and doesn’t care as far as his political interests are concerned.
“He has sold Delta state for his selfish political ambition. Okowa has put Delta in huge debts and he will still take more loans for Delta to campaign for Atiku.
“I have never seen such a shameless man to have betrayed his southern colleagues after hosting them to mock them for power shift to the South only to openly betray himself.
“Yes, Okowa betrayed himself, much more than he betrayed his Southern allies and he will remain insignificant no matter how smart and far he thinks he can go with his politics of extreme greed. Since he is not ashamed of himself, his family should be ashamed of him.
“Does Okowa think he will be a champion all through his life? No one remains a champion for life. Okowa’s champion era will not last for life. He should understand that. The end of his political career is near, so near.”
Delta State Commissioner for Information, Charles Aniagwu, in response to all scolding of the Delta state governor, dismissed the allegations as baseless, saying, ‘We read in some quarters of the media that he is alleging that Okowa betrayed Southern Nigeria by accepting to be running mate to Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.
“The Atiku-Okowa is a ticket that is going to restore our country to become a much more secured country and to restore the economy of the nation.
“They both understand economic issues and the need to bring in many persons on board irrespective of their political persuasions.
“The Atiku-Okowa ticket is already moving because while they are busy looking for a place holder, the PDP already have its candidate.”
