…encourages the church to engage in politics
Ahead of 2023 gubernatorial race, the Delta state Governorship candidate of Social Democratic Party SDP, Olorogun Barr. Kenneth Gbagi OON in the company of his amiable wife, Mrs. Sybil Gbagi JCA, the Deputy Governor, Mrs. Rosemary Isioma Oshilim, the Campaign Director General, Vice Chairman of SDP Central, Elder Fred Owotorofa and other SDP entourage has taking his campaign further to the Anglican Diocese of Patani.
This campaign vitsit took place at Anglican diocese of Patani on Friday, 30th December 2022.
The visit was an eye opener to the Patani Christian diocese as Gbagi delivered his liberation message raw to the people which counters the influence of godfatherism and its damages on citizen and state in all ramifications.
Gbagi was welcomed in grand style by Rt. Reverend Victor Ebipade Okporu, Bishop of Anglican diocese of Western Izon and other leaders of the Anglican Communion of the Patani Diocese even as he reaffirmed his ideals on revitalizing the industries in Delta state.
Gbagi who is known for his distinguished character encouraged the Patani Christians on the choice of President as it concerns voting.
In his statement he expressed, “I only know two presidential candidates that should be voted for as Christians. One is Prince Adewole Adebayo and the other is Peter Obi, if you are truly a Christian and you vote for any other candidate, then God will punish you”
He put it to the church that, they have the solution to Delta state problem and encourage the church to take their stand in politics as 75% of the people in Delta state stands to be christians therefore should be able to choose right their leader not just to keep praying while the state perish in the hands of wicked rulers.
Gbagi maintained in his word to the clergy saying that, “The church is paying a big prize for our decision not to be political, unless the church is political, you will soon find yourselves taking permission from a Muslim before you can enter your place of worship”
“Delta state has produced majority of the biggest adventurers in business in Nigeria today and it so sad that with so much that God has endowed us with, there’s so much poverty starring us in the face”.
At the end, Gbagi made references to the prices of items between the Goodluck Jonathan administration which he was part of as a minister and present administration.
He went further to commend the church for their patience and encourage them to stand on their feet as Christians and demand for true leadership inorder to take their own destiny and that of their children and children unborn in their own hands for Delta state to progress.
