...enhances trade facilitation
The Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR, has expressed his commitment to strengthening the Service’s already established partnership with GIZ Nigeria to enhance trade facilitation by engaging officers in capacity-building workshops on Advanced Ruling.
He disclosed this on Monday,14th November 2023, when he officially received members of the organization led by their head, Bernard Tayo, at the Customs Headquarters Abuja.
The Comptroller-General of Customs highlighted the values of partnership with GIZ Nigeria, adding, “We will continue to strengthen the way upon which we perfect our work.”
He said, “In view of our commitment to improving trade facilitation, we deemed it necessary to meet and form a strong agreement that will support our strategic plans to implement technological-base training for the officers and men of the Service about trade facilitation.”
The CGC applauded GIZ Nigeria for coming up with the idea of conducting training on advanced ruling to the officers of the Service, stressing that the opportunity will go a long way in actualizing the full participation of the Customs Officers in facilitating trade through ICT.
On his part, the Head of the Delegation, Bernard Tayo, applauded the CGC’s passion to improve his officers’ professionalism in the area of trade facilitation and general Customs work, expressing that “your commitment and enthusiasm towards promoting the Service can’t be overemphasized.”
He said, “We hope that the program will address the issues of trade and set a roadmap for implementing new strategies that will enhance the prowess of your men to boost both the economy and revenue in Nigeria.”
Meanwhile, Richard Chopra, a member of the delegation, also outlined various aspects of the session to be touched upon, which would help traders to have a clear view of the Advanced Ruling Framework.
The session, which started on Monday, 14th November 2023, at the Customs Corporate Headquarters, Abuja, is expected to guide the officers to understand trade facilitation through a technological approach clearly.
