Comptroller Joy Edeldouk has taken over the mantle of leadership of the Nigeria Customs Service, Kirikiri Lighter Terminal Command.
The new Customs Area Controller assumed office after a brief handover ceremony where she took over from the newly appointed Acting Assistant Comptroller-General Martina Tilley-Gyado on Friday, 31 May 2024.
Speaking at the event, Ag. ACG Tilley-Gyado described her successor as an officer capable of leading the command to greater heights.
She highlighted the command’s achievements, saying, “From January to May 2024, we generated N36.6 billion, that represents a 65% increase when you compare it to the same period in last year”.
“Under my watch, the command has successfully revitalised operations and expanded terminal availability. Kirikiri Lighter Terminal has also transformed from a simple export transit hub to an Export Processing Terminal (EPT)”. She added.
She extended gratitude to the Comptroller General of Customs and his management team for giving her the opportunity to serve, while also appreciating stakeholders and sister agencies for their cooperation and synergy. She solicited the support of all to the incoming Customs Area Controller.
On her part, the new Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Joy Edeldouk promised to consolidate on the successes of her predecessor and work with the CGC’s policy thrust of Consolidation, Collaboration and Innovation.
She solicited support to improve revenue generation at the command.
In her words, “In Customs, revenue is our number one Key Performance Index (KPI), so I implore all of you to please join hands with me to take our revenue to the next level”.
To our stakeholders, I want to say thank you so much, I will also implore everyone of you to please feel free to come forward with your suggestions on how to take this command to the next level. I also like my predecessor, will operate an open door policy”, the CAC stated.
