Governor of Abia State, Okezie Ikpeazu, has expressed his excitement over the prevailing atmosphere of peace and security in Abia State this 2022 Christmas.

In his message to Abians on the occasion of this year’s Christmas celebration, Ikpeazu said this has made it possible for a large number of Abians in the Diaspora to come home to enjoy the yuletide with their kith and kin in different communities across the state.

According to his Chief Press Secretary, Onyebuchi Ememanka, Ikpeazu said, “it is nothing short of a miracle and a clear evidence of the love of God Almighty that our state enjoys relative peace and tranquillity at a time like this when many parts of the country are battling with security concerns of different kinds.”

While welcoming Abians in the Diaspora who came home for Christmas, the governor urged all to “feel free to move around the state with a view to making useful suggestions to the State Government” and thanked them for their “sustained support” to his administration through several interventions, especially in the area of health and education.

The Governor assured that while security is of God, his administration will continue to do all within her power to support the fantastic work of various security agencies in the State in their bid to secure the lives and property of the people.

He further appreciated the people of Abia State for their steadfast support of his administration in the last seven and half years, especially as this will be his last Christmas as Governor.

“This year’s Christmas is special in many ways. In particular, it will be my last Christmas as your Governor and it is appropriate for me to place on record, my gratitude and that of my family to the good people of Abia State for their love and support to our administration all these years. It has been the greatest honour of my life yet, being your Governor,” he said.

He expressed his strong belief that a lot of progress has been recorded by his administration, especially in the area of peace, security and infrastructural development, adding “While we may not have solved all our problems, we have recorded a lot of progress and we are prepared to do more. We will keep working for our people till our last day in office in May next year.”

He advised Abians to imbibe the true message of Christmas which is to uphold the virtues of love, peace and good neighbourliness, and to avoid any acts capable of upsetting the peace and tranquillity in the state.
