Recently, Fidelity, other seven commercial Banks in Nigeria has reportedly gained approval from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to operate internationally.
According to Legit.ng reports, the CBN has also provided a breakdown of banks granted licenses to operate nationally and regionally.
In recent months banks have been working on upgrading their licenses and expanding their operations.
However, the information sourced from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) revealed that there are at least 33 banks in Nigeria and the licenses under which these banks operate vary, some having national or regional licenses while others serve as merchant banks.
