
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)’s agent, Shehu Aliyu Patangi has been arrested in Kaduna State over alleged vote-buying.

Patangi was arrested at about 3.30 am on Saturday by operatives of the Nigeria Police Force and the Department of State Services (DSS).
According to information, the suspect was arrested with over N25.9 million cash, allegedly meant to compromise Saturday’s bye-elections in the state.
The spokesperson for the police in Kaduna, Deputy Superintendent of Police Mansir Hassan said the suspect was apprehended along the Turunku Road in Kaduna metropolis.
According to Mansir, Patangi’s arrest was possible following collaboration between the police, the DSS and other security agencies in the state.
He added that the suspect is believed to the heading to the Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency election to entice intending voters with the money.
He also confirmed that the suspect confessed to planning to bribe voters with the money.
Mansir said that during his interrogation, Patangi pleaded for mercy from the security officers.
Speaking further, Mansir said Rabiu Muhammad, the Commissioner of Police in Kaduna commended the officers and the security agencies for the synergy.
Muhammad so warned that anyone, irrespective of the status of political alignment, caught undermining the electoral process would be made to face justice.
